Verdant Hill Hotel Kuala Lumpur

The staff were excellent, friendly, efficient, and always ready to help. Breakfast was decent too, with noodles, cereals, omelettes, pastries, and plenty of choice. The pool is good for a relaxed dip and a cold beer after a hot day, rather than swimming lengths. The location is hard to beat, with Jalan Alor about a 10-minute walk, Chinatown around 15 minutes away, and the Petronas Towers, bars, and restaurants all close by. Verdant Hill also makes a good base for exploring Kuala Lumpur and the area around it. It feels more like a strong 3-star than a proper 4-star, though. The hotel is showing its age: the carpets are clean but marked and a little frayed, and the walls could use fresh paint after years of suitcase bumps. The shower knob came off in my hand the first time I used it. It was easy to fix and no big deal, but it shows how some attention to small details would help. Another odd thing was having to pay cash for food and drinks at the bar instead of charging them to the room. It's good value and well located, with great staff and a lot going for it. Some TLC could make this place a real gem.

The room itself was fine, but the service, unwelcoming staff, and lack of cleaning really let our stay down. When we arrived in pouring rain, my wife was carrying our two kids and I was struggling up the stairs with four carry-on bags. Three reception staff looked at us, then looked away, and another staff member walked straight past. That set the tone. Check-in was just our room number and floor, breakfast hours from 6:30 to 10:30, then a point toward the elevator while they stayed in their chairs. During two weeks there, reception never gave us so much as a smile, nod, or hello. At checkout they took our key cards and said, “Ok all done.” No thanks, no asking how the stay was. Consistent, at least. Our half-carpeted, half-tiled room wasn't vacuumed or mopped during the 14 nights. The supposedly clean towels and sheets weren't clean either, as the photos show. Wi-Fi was unusable at night. The aircon seemed to have only two settings, off or on. The temperature control was just for show, as other reviews have mentioned. For some reason, our family was put in one of two connecting rooms even though we booked only one. The gap under the connecting door was big enough to see light and feel the aircon from next door, and we could hear everything the other guests said. There was practically no privacy. The water noise was loud enough to wake me in the middle of the night whenever someone on our floor flushed a toilet. There were a few positives: a good location, a varied breakfast buffet, and a spacious pool that's friendly for kids. But after our experience, I can't recommend Verdant Hill hotel.

The staff were polite, attentive, and always ready to help, and check-in and checkout were quick and smooth. Housekeeping kept our spacious, clean room in good shape throughout the stay, and it had all the amenities we needed. Verdant Hill Hotel Kuala Lumpur is conveniently located near Bukit Bintang, so shopping, dining, and entertainment are easy to get to, while the hotel itself still feels peaceful. I found it comfortable and good value for money. I'd recommend staying here and would consider coming back.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and the breakfast buffet had a good range of things to start the day. Our king room was spacious, with a firm, comfortable bed and thick pillows. The shower had good pressure and very hot water, and there were toiletries like toothbrush and toothpaste, a razor, a comb, and slippers. The hotel is a little dated, but still very comfortable. It's in a great spot in Bukit Bintang, easy to get around on foot and still fairly quiet. Lots of restaurants and bars are only about five minutes away.
