The room was still wet on the floor and smelled musty when I finally got in at 3:30 p.m. The bathroom door also looked as though it was locked from the inside, even though it wasn't. I had been due to check in at 3, but was asked to wait another half hour because the room wasn't ready. At least they let me check out at 1 p.m., which I appreciated. The lobby had no air conditioning, so I spent about 30 minutes waiting in a stuffy, uncomfortable space. It reflects badly on management. Overall, a very unpleasant stay, and I won't be back.

The central location was the one good thing about our five-night stay at Swiss Garden Residence Apartments by Maple Home in Kuala Lumpur. It was convenient for getting to attractions and activities around KL, but the rest fell well short of what we expected. We arrived late at night after a long flight and found the check-in area tucked away in a shabby corner. The staff member insisted on a cash deposit in Malaysian currency. Since we'd come straight from the airport without local cash, we were told to find an ATM before we could check in, which added stress at that hour. The apartment was poorly maintained, and the bathroom felt unsafe and hadn't been cleaned properly. Nobody serviced the room during all five days. Entry and exit used a QR code system, which sounds sensible, but the security staff were repeatedly rude and unwelcoming. It felt more like being policed than welcomed. One early morning while I waited for transport and quietly ate something from a convenience store, an officer told me to stop eating in reception. A little later he asked me to move my small handbag off a side table, saying the tables were only for large bags, even though no other guests were there. The poor cleanliness, service and staff behaviour made this a disappointing stay. I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it.

The location works really well for me, with easy access and plenty of indoor parking on floors 3-5. It costs RM12 a night, with unlimited access. We had a good stay and would come back. Our suite had a king bed, a spacious bathroom, a full kitchen, a washer and dryer, a small dining table and a sofa. The shower setup was a little odd because you have to step down a few stairs inside the shower area, but everything else was good. The pool had a magnificent view of the 118 tower, and you could also see Lala Port Mall. There's a gym too. Check-in at Maple Home on the ground floor took a bit of figuring out, so we had to ask security for instructions. The welcome at reception wasn't especially warm, but they upgraded us to a suite. The deposit was RM150 and was refundable when we checked out.

The problems went well beyond what cleaning could fix. The apartment's overall condition and maintenance were poor, and it made my family and children extremely uncomfortable. We decided not to stay and had to pay for another hotel that same day. What was meant to be a family holiday turned into a stressful, costly experience. The photos and description didn't match what we found, so I strongly urge future guests to check who actually manages the unit before booking. I wouldn't recommend it. I had booked believing the property was part of Swiss Garden Residences. Only after arriving did I learn it was a privately managed apartment operated by Maple Home. That wasn't clearly disclosed during booking, just shown in a small watermark that was easy to miss. I felt misled. There was a strong unpleasant smell throughout. The mattresses and pillows were dirty, with visible stains and hair; the furniture was old and worn and had a musty odour. The toilet was stained and smelled bad, and the cabinets and storage areas looked as if they hadn't been properly cleaned. Hygiene and upkeep overall were poor.

The security setup felt reassuring, with passcodes needed for the entrance, elevator and room. I think it would feel safe for solo travellers or families with small children. We had a nice city view looking toward Merdeka 118 Tower. The nearest MRT station isn't especially close, though still walkable. I was really happy with our stay.
