We stayed for seven days and already hope to come back for the quiet and magic of the place. Earth Park Asia is wrapped in nature, with undeveloped white sand beaches stretching away in both directions and waves rolling in around the clock. Our traditional longhouse-style room had an en-suite bathroom, a large comfortable bed with a mosquito net, and cooling sea breezes. There were surprisingly few insects despite the wood and bamboo walls and floors, built with small gaps for airflow. The host family and staff were warm, helpful, and thoughtful about living sustainably with the community and nature. Meals were tasty and nutritious, with a big menu. WiFi was available in the room and restaurant, and the host could arrange paid transport.

A lovely way to get away from everyday routines, spend time in real nature, and enjoy yummy vegan food that feels like a reset for body and soul. I’ll definitely come back, maybe even make it an annual vacation.

Beach days, exotic fruit, vegan meals, and plenty of time for books and the kids made this a lovely week away. We were able to extend our booking, which I was glad about. Sometimes the children even spare a little time for their parents 😉. I’d sit with a fresh coconut drink and look out at that incredible blue water, letting my mind wander. In this wide stretch of nature and quiet, I didn’t feel like I needed anything else.

The kids had so much room to explore, and spent nearly all day playing with the other children. We came as a family planning on two weeks, then stayed for four. We only left because we already had plans to travel with friends. Bianca and Gerald and everyone else made us feel warmly welcomed. Our room was clean and had the comfort we needed. There were great conversations, lovely food, and ideas that changed our lives. We were busy while also enjoying the chance to do very little, and learned a lot about what matters in life. We hope to come back soon.

A beautiful, out-of-the-way spot in Sabah if you’re looking to get off the usual tourist route. Food is vegan and self-catering, so read the website before you book. We had a really nice stay among some wonderful, interesting people.
