Fatehah Inn

We spent four lovely days at Fatehah Inn, relaxing in its peaceful garden. The owner and his family made us feel at home, and they can arrange Taman Negara excursions as well as tickets for onward travel. Our simple room was cozy and had a small balcony. Being near the mosque was a plus for us; we loved the atmosphere. We'd happily return and recommend it.

For the price, this is the best deal in town. It's a relaxed place, not for partying, and the friendly owner can answer questions or offer advice on transport and things to do. The rooms are basic but clean, with fans and mosquito nets over the beds instead of air-conditioning. The double beds are on the small side, though the pillows are really comfortable. The shower is cold, which suited us in such hot weather. You can hear the mosque prayers from next door once during the night, part of the experience here.

The owner is friendly, knowledgeable, and honest, and you can talk through trips and excursions with him. Anne’s restaurant is very close, about a five-minute walk from the jetty, and serves tasty breakfast, lunch, and dinner with plenty of choices. I travelled alone and rented a small private room without air-conditioning. Even when it was very hot outside, the room stayed cool, and it had the basics I needed as a backpacker. The property is beside a musolla, so you hear the azan at prayer times. They even provide earplugs, which was thoughtful. I'd stay again if I come back.

The host was welcoming and helpful. He arranges tours for less than the agencies in town, and drives you to and from the start points and bus pickup or drop-off. He also let our friends leave their things there even though they weren't staying. The rooms are simple but have what you need. Our downstairs room felt a little damp, so he moved us upstairs the next day. Great value for money in kuala tahan.
