The AC leaked during the night, which made things uncomfortable. I’d checked in for 2D1N, and the room was already quite dirty when I first walked in. I accepted that at first because it was cheap. Then at 11:55am on day two, before noon, a woman in a baju kurung knocked loudly on my door again and again, shouting “housekeeping.” I work in the hotel industry too, and that came across as really rude. Five or six knocks with shouting felt unnecessary. Does paying less mean guests should put up with that kind of staff behavior? I’m not sure what her position was.

For the price, the room has a decent amount of space and the stay was simple and okay. It’s a budget hotel in Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, so the university setting feels safe, with security around. Handy if you’re stopping by while exploring Kuala Terengganu town, and it’s very affordable.

The room was spacious and clean, and the price was reasonable. Getting a Grab or Maxim car for transport was possible even though the hotel is inside UMT. Two things weren’t good: the carpet felt sticky and dirty, so bring the one-use slippers. Also, I could feel fleas on my body while trying to sleep, and the bed seemed dirty.

It was dirty and crawling with insects. There was even a cockroach on the bed while you slept. What a “fantastic service,” apparently only found in bad hotels 👎
