Ming Star Hotel

The receptionist was pleasant and helpful, and the lobby looked presentable, though that could give the wrong impression. The location was okay, but finding a decent breakfast early in the morning might be difficult. The corridor was narrow and maze-like, and smelled of cigarettes, probably from people smoking there before. My room was a bit rundown and didn't look as nice as the pictures, with old-looking furniture. Although the receptionist said they'd upgraded me to a superior twin room, most of the windows were covered with wooden planks, leaving just one small window. It did come with an electric kettle, hairdryer, iron, and ironing board. Drinking water came from a dispenser, and I wasn't sure about its hygiene.

Wouldn't recommend staying here. Over my four days, I woke up every morning to knocking, drilling, and vehicle noise. The toilet hair dryer couldn't be fixed, the bath area drain was blocked, and the room smelled bad. There was no room cleaning service. Most shocking, the room hadn't been cleaned before I checked in. There was an obvious food oil mark on the table left by the previous guest, so it clearly hadn't been cleaned or wiped for the next person.

Even for just a few hours overnight, I wouldn't recommend this place. The room felt dodgy and had a strange smell from the room through to the toilet, with watermarks on some walls. The bed and pillows were uncomfortable, and the sheets were stained. It needs major upgrades. The pictures are deceiving, even though the rooms were spacious for families. The parking lot was dark, and we didn't feel safe walking along the corridor.

Check-in was quick, the staff were helpful, and the service was great. The city-centre location is strategic, and having an elevator was very convenient. The main issue was my room 307 mattress, which was hard as a rock. Even my cheap mattress at home is more comfortable. Please improve the mattress and provide bottled drinking water in the room, because I don't find the current water setup hygienic. Apart from those things, I had nothing to complain about. It was an okay experience overall.
