The room was clean, and the bed linens and pillows made for a comfortable rest. I also appreciated the work they’ve put into refurbishing the in-room furniture. On my first stay, though, the door handle was loose and damaged, which needs attention for safety and maintenance. Shahzan Hotel, Kuantan has an in-house restaurant with breakfast and ala-carte meals from 7am to 10pm. The basement has limited parking, but there’s public parking nearby. I hope management keeps up the renovations and facility upgrades. The location is convenient.

The location is right in central Kuantan, with plenty to do on foot. You can jog at Padang MPK in the evening, walk over to Kula Cakes for teatime, and find lots of good food spots nearby at night. I booked through Booking.com. The bidet wasn’t working when we arrived, so I asked to switch rooms. The receptionist said a technician would check it first, and once they’d inspected it, they quickly moved us to another room. Fast response 👍

This was a last-minute booking, and maybe I expected too much after seeing the description: trademark collection by Wyndham PRO: Easy to book via whatsapp. The only new thing in the hotel is the room number display. The lobby and dining area were stuffy, with poor ventilation. The old elevators were slow and stuffy, with no access card feature. Room 1007 smelled bad and had a small toilet, while the door key for room 1008 didn’t work. At night, traffic noise from the main road was too loud.

The service was top notch and the stay was great, but cleanliness matters too much to me to overlook. There was bad fungal growth between the shower tiles, though the floor itself was okay, and that’s why I’m giving four stars instead of five. There are improvements to make. It’s easy to walk around the heart of Kuantan, and the pool area has a good view. The bed was comfortable and well made. There wasn’t a small fridge, even though the slot and plug suggest one may have been there before.
