Mega View Hotel Kuantan

Having breakfast by the Pahang river was calm and pleasant, and the food selection felt right for the hotel’s price. They even served ayam percik. The hotel sits beside the river, so it’s nice for a leisurely walk or jog. My windowless room was clean, the aircon was cool, and the bed was comfortable. I can’t comment on the outside view, though, and the soundproofing was very poor. Parking needs work. There weren’t enough spaces, and the cars on either side of mine were so close that I was lucky not to get a dent. A covered car park would also help, since I had to walk to my car in the rain after checking out.

The iftar buffet was the highlight, with lots of tasty, well-prepared dishes. Staff were attentive and friendly. One of them even comforted a crying child nearby and brought over some ice cream, and they cleared used plates quickly. I’d booked the room as part of the Ramadan buffet package. It was clean and comfortable, and I liked relaxing on the balcony and enjoying the view. Sahur was less satisfying. The choices were limited to white rice, a few dishes, and cut fruit. Bread or fried noodles would be good additions for people who don’t want rice at sahur. Still, it was a pleasant stay, and I’d recommend the hotel for the buffet and the service.

The breakfast spread was small but covered the basics, and it was plenty for us. The nasi lemak bungkus was delicious, and the latte was superlicious. I was also happy with the friendly, polite front desk and cafe staff, duty manager, and security team. The place may look old, but it’s well maintained, and I’ll stay again on my next East Coast trip. We booked a twin room without a window for one night on the way from Perhentian to KL, through Agoda. The firm bed was very comfortable, and I liked not being woken by the sunrise. The room was clean and spacious, with towels, toiletries, a makeup table, mini fridge, iron and board, kettle, coffee and tea. The shower had hot water and strong pressure, the sink tap had hot water too, and the aircon was cold. The location beside Kuantan river and Menara 188 is handy. Makan shops are walkable, as are the Ramadan Bazaar by the state mosque, Art Street, and dried seafood shops along Jalan Besar. Parking is open air, with three EV charging bays: two ChargeSini and one EV Guru.

The room decorations were beautiful and romantic, and the view outside was breathtaking. We had an awesome short vacation at Mega View Hotel and will definitely come back. I booked through Agoda, then contacted the hotel to confirm and ask for something special for my wife's birthday. The staff were understanding, humble, and so helpful, and gave us a lovely warm welcome when we arrived.
