Senrose Hotel

This is a budget hotel near Kuantan Town, at the edge of the Tanjung Lumpur shoplots. The spot itself feels quiet and a bit isolated. A little farther into Tanjung Lumpur, though, there are plenty of restaurants serving tasty seafood, especially grilled fish.

The counter service was good, around four stars, and the woman on staff was helpful. The room cleanliness was another story: there were leftover baby diapers, dead and live cockroaches, lizards, dust and hair under the bed. I had to borrow a broom and mop and clean the room myself. I should have told the staff member it was dirty, I suppose. Overall service gets three stars. At noon sharp they automatically cut the room’s electricity, which felt really stingy. I’ve stayed at lots of two- and three-star hotels, but never had that happen. We had paid a deposit, and the day before, the staff member had said a late checkout would be deducted from it, so I don’t see the problem. Luckily we were ready to leave and only had our bags to take out. Bad attitude. First and last stay here. I booked through Agoda apps and paid RM99 a night for a king-size bed.

There are lots of parking spaces, and checking in and out was easy. The staff were very helpful, and the room was fairly clean. You can even get a sea view, though Swissbel Hotel blocks part of it. The hotel is at the end of Tanjung Lumpur 7 road, and it gets crowded with people checking in. Nearby food places include Ana Ikan Bakar Petai, Mail Ikan Bakar, Super Top, Santai Ikan Bakar and Celup Tepung Hujung Tanjung. This may be the most 'clear' hotel in Kuantan.

Nice service and a comfortable stay. The air conditioning worked well, and the shower water was excellent. The hotel is right at the far end of the block, though.
