Swiss-Belhotel Kuantan

The car park is a bit narrow, so drive slowly and carefully, especially at busy times. Otherwise, Swiss-Belhotel Kuantan was calm and comfortable, with well-kept facilities and clean, spacious rooms. Its convenient location made it easy to get around Kuantan and reach nearby attractions and food spots. The staff were friendly, helpful, and professional, making the stay feel smooth and welcoming. A reliable option for business or leisure, and I'd consider staying again.

I especially enjoyed the delicious gulai ikan, and the in-room dining dishes were tasty and reasonably priced over the two days I ordered them. The sambal belacan had lovely flavour, though it wasn't spicy. Breakfast had limited choices, but I liked the egg station. As someone from Terengganu, I think the nasi for nasi dagang could be better. My room at Swiss-Belhotel Kuantan was clean and comfortable, although some of the ceiling looked yellowish. The location is excellent, near the city centre and lots of seafood restaurants. Parking can be limited, but everyone I met, from reception and the café team to the parking guards, was friendly and helpful. It was a nice stay, and I'd be happy to return.

There was practically no dry beach outside the hotel, since the tide brings the water almost up to the building. A walk there at low tide could be interesting, though. My family and I loved our stay. The room was spacious and very clean, apart from worn silicone in the bathroom, which seems common in hotels. The towels looked grayish and weren't very pleasant, but they were clean. Breakfast was decent, and the staff were really friendly and helpful.

Breakfast has become bland, and refills are slow. Plates sometimes have food stains, dust, or too much water, which makes me question the hygiene. During festive seasons, extra tables only come out after the room is already crowded, so the service feels poorly coordinated and reactive. The lifts are another ongoing frustration. Even with four lifts, one or two are almost always unavailable, making simple trips around the hotel a test of patience. The rooms also show signs of neglect: a TV that keeps flickering, stained bathroom flooring, blinds that don't work properly, and basic amenities missing. It all made the stay frustrating instead of relaxing. Check-in has become an endurance test too. Guests queue, but staff seem unsure who is next, so the most confident person can move ahead regardless of arrival order. Some basic crowd management would help. The Tanjung Lumpur sea view is still excellent and seems to be carrying the place. I used to count this as a dependable choice for a calm getaway, and as a loyal guest, it's disappointing to see cleanliness, service, and management slip this way. Without that view, I can't see much reason to return. This visit moved it from favourite to avoidable.
