A young man at reception, I think his name was Wang, was very kind, polite and helpful. The place is right in the heart of Kuching, so you can get around on foot. Bars and restaurants line the street, and a supermarket is about a five-minute walk away. The accommodation is simple but fine for a short stay. The downsides were the toilet that wouldn't flush properly, and the lack of separate men's and women's restrooms or individual shower facilities. There wasn't a changing area or toilet paper either, and our room had no window.

Herbert was such a caring host, always happy to chat and offer recommendations. The hostel and rooms were really clean, and I appreciated the well-equipped kitchen. They had free ground coffee, not instant, plus cereal, bread, milk, bananas and crackers for a snack. A wonderful place to stay. Thank you!

Wayne was the highlight of the hostel. He went out of his way for every guest and knew a lot about local activities. The breakfast included with the stay was a great bonus too. The hostel has what you need, with clean rooms and bathrooms and several terraces to relax on. Thanks, Wayne, for a great stay.

We came back here three times between visits to the national park. The staff were so friendly and gave us lots of help planning the trip and finding nearby activities. The common areas are great, and we spent plenty of time downstairs by reception. The rooftop terrace was lovely and handy for drying clothes. There's a small but refreshing pool, and a laundry shop right across the street. If they're not too busy, they bring your clothes back to reception. The hostel has a great vibe, on a nice street with lots of shops and restaurants, about a 15-minute walk from the waterfront. We'd definitely recommend it.

The rooms are tiny, but the price is budget-friendly and they're fine if you're not picky. They stay cool and don't smell, since the rooms are aired out and have exhaust fans. Towels are supplied, but bring your own toiletries. It's quiet, near local shops, and you can walk to town and the waterfront.
