The room and sheets smelled unpleasant, and the small green pillow had a really bad odor too. When I asked the man at reception with a big body for another pillow at night, he made an unpleasant, rude face and said I had to ask housekeeping during office hours. He also said an extra pillow might cost more. I was disappointed they didn’t offer to replace the smelly one. Earlier, when I asked the female receptionist about a one night stay price, her tone was cold and unfriendly. Housekeeping came into our room to clean while we were out, which made me feel our privacy wasn’t respected. Afterward the sheets smelled fresh, making me realize they hadn’t been changed before we first checked in. The toilet bowl clogged and the tap sink at the bathtub had a problem, but maintenance managed to repair it. This was my first stay, and it wasn’t welcoming. I won’t stay here again and wouldn’t recommend it.

The staff were wonderful and very accommodating, and the location is ideal for exploring Kuching town. The hotel has an old-school feel, but the building is showing its age and the rooms and facilities need a refresh. There’s a lot of potential here, and I hope management improves the maintenance. Great service overall.

The food and staff service were excellent, but room 607 was extremely hot. The aircond seemed almost nonfunctional. I called service and was told it was centralized, but our room stayed so damn hot.

The room and food were actually quite good. But at my first hotel check-in, the receptionist had a sour face and no smile, looking at us like we owed her money to stay there. The service was really bad.

The staff were excellent, and the room was clean and cold with working aircond. Still, there were too many defects for a hotel room, and it should not be given to guests until it has been refurbished. The bathtub was unusable, with its coating peeling, and the shower head was a joke. The toilet door edges were broken, the water taps were broken, and the towels looked like they were 20 years old. The side chair and sofas were unpleasant, probably from being too old. The room we got had been repaired badly and wasn’t maintained. It was the worst room we’ve had while travelling to almost all ASEAN countries, and I was surprised by its condition after travelling to most ASEAN countries.
