It felt more like staying in a house than a hostel, and the location was great. The staff were welcoming and friendly, so we felt at home. There was a bit of grit or sand in the bed, but otherwise everything was good. The place has a cozy vintage atmosphere, with a stylish retro lounge and games, a simple kitchen with a kettle, fridge, cutlery and crockery, plus hot showers and somewhere to dry laundry. We liked it much more than Singghasana Lodge, where we stayed last time.

The staff were so friendly and helpful. On the day we arrived, they even helped my husband find a cake for my birthday. Our private room was comfortable, with both AC and a fan, and the hostel was very clean and organised. They offer a wide range of tours; we didn’t try any, but it was good to know they were available. One of my best hostel stays so far. Recommended!

The staff were lovely and the place felt cozy, almost like home. It’s a characterful old building, with good wifi, space to wash and dry clothes, AC and a fan, and a deck in the rooms. Breakfast was very basic, though about what other places offer.

The 20 Ringgit dorm bed is fairly priced. Rooms were clean, and there’s a comfortable common area with sofas, tables and a kitchen corner. A small breakfast of toast with jam and tea or coffee is included. WiFi is there, but kept cutting in and out. My otherwise positive impression changed when I tried to get information. The owners run the agency downstairs and seemed more interested in selling tours than helping me plan on my own. They pushed tours I felt were overpriced and wouldn’t give me the contact number for the owner of a homestay in Annah Rais. That was a shame. For reliable information, go to the tourism information office.

It’s a great spot near the waterfront and China Town, and I’d recommend it if you like rustic vintage houses. There’s no lift, which could be difficult with wheeled luggage or limited mobility. After 6pm, you get in through the door using a passcode. Their tour desk is downstairs, and I’d recommend booking tours there.
