The staff and housekeeping made noise in the corridor and disturbed guests trying to rest. Ventilation in the building was very poor, and cockroaches showed up in the cabin. The interior is deteriorating, and the toilet facilities were barely satisfactory. A lousy hotel with a poor standard that needs a lot of improvement.

For a night waiting on a flight, HPL2 is a decent option. It’s a budget place mainly used by seafarers as somewhere to sleep over. The TV selection is limited, Wi-Fi is okay, and the door still has an old-style key lock. Cleanliness is okay for the price.

The location is excellent, right in the heart of Labuan town, with restaurants and night lounges an easy walk away. If money’s tight and you just need somewhere cheap to crash, it can work. The room was a bit larger than at similar hotels, but the bed sagged, the carpet looked dingy, and the walls and furniture all felt old. I bought air freshener because of the smell. The walls are paper thin, so nights were noisy. There’s no elevator, so ask for the first floor if your heart is weak rather than the third.

This is mostly a place for seafarers waiting for flights, so it’s set up as a short sleepover, maybe a night or two. Wi-Fi was intermittent but usable, the TV channels were limited and boring, and the door uses an old-fashioned key. My room was dusty and not very clean, and I found a big cockroach. They also charged for bottled water that’s usually complimentary. At check-in I saw the receptionist rudely speaking to an elderly Chinese woman who worked there, right in front of guests. It’s a budget hotel, so the cleanliness and service left a lot to be desired, though it may do if you just need to sleep before a flight.
