Tiara Labuan Hotel

I stayed at Tiara Labuan Hotel from 30 January 2026 to 01 February 2026 with five friends. We booked two Tiara Villas for two days, each with three rooms. One villa was just acceptable, but the other, where my friends stayed, was in extremely poor condition. Bird droppings covered the floors, tables, and window sills, which was completely unacceptable for a hotel. The shower had no water, so my friends had to come to our villa to shower. Their air conditioner also wasn’t working properly. We reported both problems to reception and were told someone would come fix them, but no one showed up. My friends ended up having to sleep and shower in our villa that night. They moved us to another villa the next day. Given the serious inconvenience, we asked for a refund for one night. Staff assured us it would be processed and asked us to pay an additional MYR 40 tourist tax. In the end, there was no refund, and we were charged another MYR 40 instead. It was extremely frustrating and unfair. Two receptionists, an older man and a woman, knew what had happened but wouldn’t listen or show any understanding. We tried to explain calmly for 15-20 minutes, but they showed no willingness to resolve it. Our ferry was due to leave on 01 February 2026, so we couldn’t stay at reception any longer. It was one of the worst hotel experiences of my life. The customer service was zero, and the lack of accountability was shocking. I’ll never stay at Tiara Labuan Hotel again, and I strongly advise others to think twice before booking.

I’m back home in England now, and I want to thank you all for making my return visit to Labuan so enjoyable. I was last on the island in early 1963. Labuan may have changed, but its people are just as friendly, and you made this visit worthwhile. The food at your restaurant is excellent, and the staff’s attention to detail is 100%. This was the worst experience ever. The room was filthy, with bird droppings everywhere, and the bedsheets were dirty too. It should have been cleaned and maintained before we checked in, but the staff were careless. The AC didn’t work properly, and the Wi-Fi kept dropping in and out. There was no water supply in the room. We complained, but the staff didn’t help at all. They said they would refund our money, and we paid the tourist tax too, but in the end they didn’t give us a refund.

We stayed on weekdays for 3D2N, but it wasn’t a quiet place. Visitors around the pool chatted loudly at night, and there was karaoke music in the evenings. The pool water was murky too. I’m guessing they weren’t using chlorine.
