We stayed at Mermaid and Unicorn for three nights, and Kiru was wonderful. She was kind, told us about island events and volunteering we could do for a few hours, and helped us rent a motorbike. The place is between the main city and the nature attractions, which worked for us. Our room looked like the pictures. It’s basic accommodation in Asia, not somewhere to expect frills or fancy extras, but for the price it had everything we needed. We could do laundry for free, with just 1 RN charged for detergent. We came in low season, so I can't comment on the atmosphere then. It would be nice to have lockers in the room for valuables. Kiru does keep the main door locked, though, and gives you a key when you arrive. Great value for the money. Thanks, Kiru!

It felt so relaxing here, almost like home. Don't come expecting a typical hotel room, but if you want somewhere calm to have fun with friends and get a break from work stress, this place could suit you. You can also drop in and hang out at the bar if you buy beers there. The room was nice and comfortable, close to the cable car and about 15 minutes from chenang. Across the road, near the airport, there's a really good laksa stall. Riku, thank you for the great hospitality and lovely, tasty breakfast. I'll definitely come back with my friends. This place is a disaster. The breakfast was rubbish, the bathrooms awful and not very clean, and the rules felt stupid. The stairs are unmanageable, and there's no nearby beach or air conditioning. Everything is broken, and the electrics feel dangerous. The front door is locked behind a cage because of the risk from a dangerous ex-partner. There are fake reviews on sites too.

I booked this place only because I had an Airbnb coupon and everything around Cenang was unavailable during the LIMA event. I regret it. The village is full of plastic rubbish and burnt tires, and the location felt far from everywhere. I'd suggest finding a room in a better environment around Cenang Beach. My first-floor room was dirty and shabby, and its window wouldn't close tightly. I was left expecting to deal with all kinds of vermin, from mosquitoes to mice and cockroaches. The owner was rude and dishonest. She overcharged me 40 RM when I arrived and gave me a room much worse than the photos. Since it was already 9:30 pm, I paid to avoid trouble. She said I should go to 5 star hotels if I expected better. But if I wanted a 5 star hotel, why would I book her place? Even at a low price, I expect basic decency in return, and above all, I despise dishonest business.
