Best Star Resort

The location is superb, right in front of the pantai cenang beach, with lovely sunset views. Breakfast was nice too. We had a good stay overall. Our superior room was fairly large for two, though it could use more lighting. The bathroom had two separate showers, one cold and one hot, which made it difficult to get the temperature mixed properly. There was no jet spray handle control like we have in India. Dinner was okay, with a range of dishes on the beach cove restaurant menu, but the closing time varied, sometimes 10pm and sometimes 9:30pm.

The room was clean, renovated and felt safe. It was much better than the one on my last trip at the same line hotel (AB), and ours had two entrances. I think I'll come back. The kitchen really needs work, though. The food wasn't something I could eat, and I wouldn't call it “western food”.

The rooftop room we moved to was spacious and comfortable, with a great beach view and a good spot to watch the evening fire show. The location is fantastic, but make sure you book one of those newer rooftop rooms. Our first rooms on the second floor were awful: they smelled bad, felt outdated, and the AC didn't work. We were told no other rooms were available, but after arguing we managed to get a rooftop room. The food choices were disappointing too, with no Indian breakfast.

The location is handy, with the beach behind the hotel and a road full of stalls and shops in front, so it's easy to find things. The reception girl and cleaning worker were friendly. I booked two rooms, but the condition wasn't very satisfying. The air conditioning units were different sizes, and the smaller one didn't cool the room enough. Both bathrooms had weak cold water pressure, and turning the water up made it hot. The hotel is acceptable, but there's room to improve.
