Big C Motel Langkawi

The place felt scary, and I wouldn’t recommend it. It looks nice from the elevated view in front of the hotel, but the bed was a bit dusty and musty, and there were cockroaches in the room. The service needs work, and the hotel and its surroundings need cleaning. The toilet was small; I forgot to take a photo, but the mirror area had collapsed, and there wasn’t a proper place to hang clothes. Please add something so guests can shower comfortably. At check-in, only two rooms were occupied. The others were empty, with cobwebs around the door handles. We stayed around 17/9/2024-20/9/24, and most of the time there weren’t people around. The area felt deserted, with lots of abandoned cars, shops, and buildings. Only one stall seemed open, a tom yum shop, and it had just three or four customers. There are plenty of shops, minimarts, and nice hotels outside the immediate area, though. It’s cheap and worth it if you’re on a budget and don’t mind the surroundings. They provide Wi-Fi, Cuckoo water, a TV, an iron, and an outdoor coffee table and chairs. The workers were kind; it’s the place itself that wasn’t very good. I’ve attached new photos and videos, though I didn’t photograph everything. If you’re looking for a ghost-hunting place, you could try it.

I booked through booking and took a Grab from the airport, but the driver couldn’t find the hotel at first. After going around a few times, we located it. The place looked quite scary, surrounded by abandoned buildings, and the Grab driver politely asked if I was sure I wanted to be dropped there. I canceled the booking and walked in to bella Vista waterfront, about 800m away.

It’s good value for money, with a lovely view, clean rooms, and a very reasonable rate. The hotel is about a five-minute drive from the jetty, with plenty of parking. It’s a bit quiet outside, but food is available nearby, including Pizza Hut and KFC within walking distance. The staff are friendly, and there’s a kitchen. It’s an economy hotel that works well if you’re after a budget stay with a nice view. The kitchen has no microwave or guest fridge. One thing I’d suggest is checking everything before you check in.

On my second stay here, I found it a good fit for anyone wanting a private, clean, comfortable budget base while spending more time exploring the island. There’s lots of free parking, and a local seafood restaurant is within walking distance. Staff are happy to help with facilities and island day tours, and car and motorbike rentals can be arranged at the desk. The room was reasonably priced, clean, and had a comfortable bed. A simple complimentary breakfast was included. The lobby is on the second floor, so you have to take the stairs. From the entrance, the orange building and partly abandoned ground floor can give a rough first impression, but the motel area itself is clean and securely gated.
