The hosts made this feel like a home. They were so welcoming and helpful that we felt more like family than guests. The room was private, air-conditioned, comfortable and quiet, and the bathrooms were clean and well kept. I didn’t hear any of the loud music people mention in other reviews while I was in the room, and it was a restful stay. Boxpacker Hostel, Langkawi is well placed near Cenang Beach, with access at any hour. Check-in was easy, and we appreciated being trusted to check ourselves out. There’s a shared kitchen with good equipment, plus RO filtered drinking water available around the clock. The dedicated spot for drying clothes after a swim was practical too. There’s a famous bar nearby, though we didn’t feel like going. The stay was economical and comfortable, and I’d choose Boxpacker again on my next trip to Langkawi.

The dorms were good, the washrooms were clean, and the staff were the best. I left my things at the hostel, and June and Juna both helped a lot. June especially helped me get my bag back, so I have it with me in India now. He’s the best!

The room was okay and the washroom was fine, though there’s nothing flashy or especially nicely decorated about the place. I felt completely comfortable and enjoyed my time there. It’s a budget stay with a cozy, countryside-home feel, more like living with family than staying at a party hostel. The owner is very friendly and relaxed, and we had a late-night chat with him in the backyard.

The owner is lovely, the home is very clean, and the cats are adorable. It has a relaxed, homey feel and really does feel like a homestay. This was the most budget-friendly place we stayed on our trip, and the location was a 10/10 for backpackers and young travellers looking for an affordable, homelike stay. There were a few drawbacks: the toilet sometimes didn’t flush properly, there were no regular curtains in the room, and the area looked a bit like an abandoned playground. Our window was also near the sitting area, so we heard people talking and music from the bar. It quieted down around 1 AM, and with earplugs we fell right asleep.

The hostel was clean and sociable, with a great spot that made it easy to reach what you need on the island. June was a brilliant host, friendly, helpful, and full of local knowledge. I’d happily come back again and again.
