Goldsands Hotel Langkawi

The service was so poor I’d give it minus five, even though the hotel itself was okay. We weren’t told the WiFi didn’t work, and it was unavailable for our whole stay. Staff seemed completely uninterested. We asked for fresh towels, but after waiting an hour and calling reception again, nobody came. We were left with one wet, grubby towel for a day and a half. The next day we asked for replacement coffee and creamer. Again, no one came when we called. After I went downstairs and asked for a lower charge, someone brought coffee without the creamer I’d requested. There were problems all around the room. We had to tap the key card exactly three times to open the entrance door, and it was dusty and dirty. The ironing board cover was ripped and the iron plug had wires sticking out. There were exposed wires on the balcony and rusty guard rails. The bathroom LED strip and another light didn’t work. The torch had no button, so it was useless. The door had a large crack, which meant a security chain wouldn’t hold if someone tried to barge in. The toilet hand shower had no spray head, though the one in the lobby was the same. The hotel is not near a beach, and I wouldn’t recommend it. I asked for a partial refund but never got one. I didn’t pursue it for long because I had a plane to catch. I hope someone fixes these issues and helps me get back some of the money I feel I flushed away.

The lift was out of order with no notice, so people tried to use it without knowing. That could have been dangerous. Staff also promised to send receipts for the RM6 local tax for two nights and RM50 early check-in fee by WhatsApp or email, but nothing arrived. I called several times over the next few days and got excuses about the reservation team being on leave, or no response at all. Housekeeping was poor too. The bin had no liner, there was no floor map, and the TV remote had no batteries. I first asked for a floor map and batteries around noon. By 9 PM nothing had come. After another call and nearly 45 minutes of waiting, staff brought only the map. I followed up several more times before checkout, but never got the batteries. These basic service problems and the poorly maintained facilities made the stay frustrating. I can’t recommend Goldsands Langkawi based on my experience.

We booked two rooms for a family stay at The Pure Hotel, and the panoramic view was a real highlight. The city lights at night and the natural scenery by day were lovely to wake up to and enjoy with a morning coffee. The whole property, including the common spaces and our room, was spotless and felt well cared for. It made the stay feel fresh and comfortable. The Pure Hotel was a refreshing place to stay, and I’d highly recommend it for the clean surroundings and scenery. I can’t wait to come back.

The room didn’t match the Agoda photos. We booked a Twin Bed Deluxe Room, but what we got didn’t feel deluxe. When we raised it, hotel staff admitted the photos on Agoda were wrong and said no other rooms were available. It felt misleading, almost like a scam. Agoda shares the blame for listing photos without proper checking. When I contacted them, I got only a generic reply that they were looking into it, with no real solution. Inside, the room was depressing: a tiny window and poor lighting, water leaking, no hot shower water, and several amenities that didn’t work properly. Housekeeping only made the bed and cleaned the bathroom each day, leaving the rest dusty and untouched. Breakfast was poor quality with little choice. We tried it once on the first day and skipped it afterward. For the price, it wasn’t worth it. The hotel felt misleading and badly maintained, so I wouldn’t recommend Goldsands Hotel Langkawi.
