The shady assam jawa tree was so lovely I wished I could take it home. It’s a quiet kampung setting, and sitting in the wakaf nearly sent my better half to sleep, with birdsong and the cautious chatter of tree shrews from their bamboo tower. We’d definitely like to come back.

We had to book this place on the spot after problems with our previous accommodation, and we really appreciated how flexible they were. It’s close to Pantai Cenang, with direct access to the pool, and the spacious rooms were clean, air-conditioned and had soft towels. The traditional-looking place felt comfortable, and we’d generally recommend it. A couple of things could be better: the kitchen needs more equipment and the shower pressure was low. After several rainy days, the open windows let in humid air and some of our things started to go moldy.

It was lovely to get the experience of staying in a kampung house. Service and communication were prompt, and there were lots of places to eat nearby.

The house was roomy, clean and tidy, and looked just like the photos. There were two bathrooms, air conditioning and ceiling fans in every bedroom, and enough space in the living room for all eight of us. The pool was clean and good for kids, with a food stall nearby. It felt like balik kampung when we arrived, and my family and I were very happy there. The owner was easy to deal with, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The price was reasonable, and the owner gave us a promotional rate because one of our family members is FRONTLINE. All the listed amenities were provided. Highly recommended.

The house was unbearably hot, like a heat trap, because it had no ceiling. I can't believe no one mentioned that in their reviews. We also didn't feel safe at night in this rather isolated place, and I don't think anyone was guarding it. On the first night there was a millipede on the sofa, and I worried snakes might get in through the gap under the kitchen door. The place itself is pretty, but I wouldn't choose it for a holiday. The pillows were old and limp, as if the owners had discarded them, and the bath towels were old and didn't absorb well. This was my first and last time staying in a homestay.
