Kampung Guest House - Hostel

We were moved to another room, hoping it would be better, but it felt just as bad. We were told all the rooms were the same. Instead of enjoying Langkawi, we spent our time stressed, disappointed, and helpless. This wasn’t the peaceful stay we’d hoped for, and I’m writing this so others can avoid the same experience. Be careful booking, and don’t rely only on the online photos. We arrived excited and trusting the listing, but the moment we entered, we felt shocked and uncomfortable. The room smelled bad, the walls were damaged, and everything looked old and neglected, nothing like the advert. When we asked the owner about the difference, she said the pictures were taken years ago when the place was new and had never been updated. That was extremely frustrating and made us feel deliberately misled. Many basics listed when booking weren’t there: toiletries, slippers, a kettle, bottled water, proper storage, a desk, a balcony, or even a socket near the bed. The blanket had holes and burn marks too. Each missing or damaged thing added to the feeling that we weren’t cared for and couldn’t get comfortable.

There’s both a fan and air conditioning in the small room, and for the price it’s good value. But the bathroom water pressure was so poor that I decided not to shower, since it would have taken forever. The toilet tanks took ages to refill, and air coming through the sink tap made water splash everywhere.

Very bad place. They put 4 people in one room, and some guests made noise all night. There’s no management to stop the loud guests, even at 00:00, so people couldn’t sleep. The place is very disorganized and needs rules.

The room was dirty, the shower was broken, and the toilet wouldn’t flush. The air conditioner had no remote, and there was only a bit of toilet paper. The photos didn’t match the room, and they charged us 20% tax.
