Red City Hotel

I’ve stayed here several times because the location and price suit me, and the room is usually nice and clean, though some facilities haven’t worked. This visit was the most unpleasant. The woman who checked me in was very unfriendly. When I asked for extra toilet paper, she told me to come get it from the counter because she was alone. That was fair enough, but my wife was napping and had to come with me. I needed the key card to open the downstairs security door, and taking it meant the room would lose power while we were out. I asked for a second card for convenience, but she said they normally give one per room. The policy seemed unnecessarily rigid, and I suggested the hotel management could consider requests case by case. She just gave me a cold, long face. Couples or two friends travelling together might want to think twice before staying here.

The price is very affordable, and I’d stay here again. The rooms are new, clean, and comfortable, with lots of kopitiams nearby in the town area. There’s no lift, though, so you have to use the stairs to get to the rooms.

It was okay, but the bathroom door lock is broken and the pipe needs fixing. They should give at least two key cards, so one can stay in to keep the aircon running and cool the room while the other is taken along when we go out.

There’s no lift, which would make things difficult for older people. Still, I like this place and have stayed here a few times. Restaurants surround it, it’s easy to walk around, and parking is available.
