OYO 90578 Seri Mawardah Hotel

I arrived in Melaka at 8am, already tired and hoping to check in. The door had an auto-lock, so I rang the bell once. A male staff member came out and scolded me for pressing it. If I’d known the door locked automatically, I wouldn’t have tried to push or pull it. He had a very bad attitude toward a customer, then made a silly joke that wasn’t funny. Please improve how staff greet guests. People sometimes come from far away, like me, just to relax and clear their minds.

I paid in full for four standard double rooms through agoda after booking at the last minute, around 8pm. My sister also said the hotel still had rooms listed on the oyo site. But when I got there at 1am, the receptionist bluntly said every room was full and told me to contact the app’s customer service for a refund. Agoda doesn’t allow cancellations and refunds on paid bookings after a certain point, so I’d lost all that money for a hotel that had no rooms for us.

For under RM70 a night, this is a budget hotel, so don’t expect resort standards. The room and bathroom were only partly clean, the TV had just a few channels with poor reception, and there was very little space for me to perform my Salah. The worst part was the cockroach smell in the room. It clung to my shirt for days. On the plus side, the receptionist was friendly and helpful, the air-conditioning worked, and the parking area wasn’t too crowded. It was also quiet. For this price, you can find better hotels elsewhere in Melaka Raya. I hope they improve the conditions soon for the sake of the Muslim brand. I won’t be coming back.

I’d already paid for my booking online, but when I arrived to check in, staff told me the hotel was full. Very bad service and a lot of hassle.
