De' Songket Hotel

The location in the city is very convenient, but I was concerned about guest safety. There's no security officer or anyone at reception, and someone tried to open my door. There isn't a peephole so I could see who was outside. I suggest having security or someone at the lobby. There was no wifi, and the lift wasn't working. The reception staff member was friendly, but reception is only open until 11pm.

I’d already paid in advance, so being told they couldn’t find my booking was infuriating. Luckily, they still had one room for me, but the staff member said if I arrived late there might not be one. Then I found out the lift was out of service, with no idea when it would be fixed, and we were told to take the stairs to level 3. Such awful customer service.

The location worked well for me: restaurants and a KK mart are close by, Jonker Walk is about 700 meters away, and the rotating tower is very nearby. The staff seemed kind and honest too. Someone had lost an AirPod, and they checked with us to see if it belonged to us. I stayed two nights. For around 90rm a night, the room was tidy, though not very spacious, and the walls are thin enough that you can hear people next door. The AC struggled in the hottest weather, so I had to leave it running before the room cooled down. I didn't need much from the service, so I can't really comment on that. All in all, a good place for the price, and I'd recommend it.

I had booked and paid through Agoda, then arrived exhausted at 12.20AM. The front door was locked and nobody was at reception. I called their number nearly 10 times, but no one answered. Their listing says the front desk is open 24 hours, so I ended up having to find another hotel.
