Star Bay Hotel

I’d read all the bad reviews, but my stay was actually good. The room was fine and comfortable enough for one night, and the staff treated us nicely.

There’s nobody in charge early in the morning, and if you leave your room card behind, you can’t get back in. Check-in is handled more like a homestay. The room is small, so I don’t think it’s worth the price.

It didn’t feel like a hotel, and I wouldn’t recommend it. The walls were covered in fungus and mould, cleanliness and upkeep were poor, and noise came through easily, especially doors banging. When we asked to move rooms, staff said they were fully booked. The place uses a kiosk system, so there may be no staff around to help if you need something.

The mould was hard to ignore, on the walls and ceiling, and in the toilet, which also smelled mouldy. The hair dryer was mounted there without a plug, so we had to go to reception for another one. Why install it there at all? The room wasn’t soundproof either. We’d already paid and had nowhere else to move, so I shut my eyes and got through the night. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. Staff said weekends are usually fully booked, so avoid going then.
