707 Hotel Melaka

The room itself was acceptable, but I barely slept because of the noise from the main road. Loud vehicles, including speeding motorcycles, kept passing at night. We had booked a standard twin room through a last-minute deal the day before our 2D1N trip to Melaka, since we usually spend our time outdoors and only needed somewhere to rest. We checked in late afternoon, went out around 4pm, and got back after midnight. The first day seemed fine. The next morning, around 9am, I was showering while my husband was still asleep when someone tried to open our room door without knocking or asking. The bathroom was right beside the entrance. Thankfully, we'd fastened the safety latch. I woke my husband and explained what happened, and he went straight to reception to find out who had tried to enter. What upset us most was how the person in charge handled it. After we asked several times, they said the receptionist had mistakenly told housekeeping that our room was ready to clean. There was no proper apology, and the response felt dismissive and unacceptable. No staff seemed genuinely sorry or treated it seriously. If that person had got in while I was showering or undressed, it would have been a serious breach of our privacy and safety. We'll never stay here again, and we strongly advise others to avoid it.

The room rate is reasonable and cheap, and there are plenty of street parking spots near the hotel, though the hotel itself has limited parking. There are lots of food places nearby, and it's not too far from the main city center. Since the hotel is right beside the main road, expect traffic noise. On my weekend trip, mat rempits made it worse with loud noise at 2 or 3am.

Worst hotel ever. There were cockroaches in the room, and when I told reception, they did nothing. The glass windows are so thin you can hear every sound from the highway. I couldn't sleep at all.

The location is strategic, and the room feels spacious and comfortable. I just wish they'd add soundproofing to the windows, because the modified motorbikes and cars at night are annoying.
