The spot worked really well for getting around. We walked to Melaka Raya in the evening, took the Cruise, got off near Upside down house, then had only a short walk back. There’s also a foodcourt right next door, plus restaurants, cafes and a kedai runcit nearby. Parking beside the hotel cost us RM38 for 16 hours, though the receptionist mentioned a tiny alley lot with just five spaces for guests, first come first served. Inside, it felt charming and homey, with Peranakan decor. Our family of four had plenty of room upstairs, more than I expected. There was no elevator, so we carried our big bags up, which was fine for me. The window looked onto the patio, and despite other guests around, the place felt quiet and private. The bed and pillows were clean and comfortable, and both the air conditioning and water heater worked well. The kids liked having cartoons and movies on the TV, including SG channels. Breakfast was basic, just eggs or bread, so there are better options nearby if you want more. The pool seemed to be under renovation, though our room had a bathtub where the kids could at least pretend to swim. It would be lovely to use the pool overlooking the river. There was a back door to the river too, but the riverside path was being renovated during our visit. A nearby bridge let us cross and walk along the other side. My seven-year-old managed the outing fine. I’d come back, especially for the location, parking option and foodcourt next door.

We were there for four nights. From outside it looks like an old row of shophouses, but once you step in the atmosphere is lovely. Some corners are really Instagram-worthy. The rooms were spacious, had a window view, and felt just right. Service was good too. We had a great stay.

The historic building was one of the things I liked, and there’s a door out to the riverside where you can sit. I stayed three nights and found it quiet and clean, suitable for families. Since it’s a budget place I hadn’t expected much. There’s no lift, so if an older family member can’t manage stairs, ask for a ground floor room. They could improve the help with luggage.

Getting here from Malacca Sentral was easy by Grab, and the back door opens onto a lovely riverside walk. We booked a family suite. It was spacious and clean, apart from the towels, which smelled even though they looked clean. Our room had no window, and guests have to handle their own bags. Breakfast choices were extremely limited, so I’d skip it since there are plenty of places to eat nearby. The pool was under maintenance and didn’t look likely to reopen soon, which disappointed my kids. For a family trip, especially with children, those things can make the stay feel pretty depressing.

You can walk to jonker street from here, which is a good location. We booked through Agoda and regretted getting a room with no window view. Michael served us and was okay. The room had carpeted floors and an okay bed, which I slept in for four nights. If you want to stay somewhere with a Peranakan house feel, this hotel is worth a try. It was still okay for us.
