Aurora Hotel

The room was comfortable and very clean, with a comfortable bed, good air conditioning, and a shower with a good heater and water pressure. The table, chair, and mirror were good too, and there was spacious hotel parking. The location is very good, though restaurants across the front have karaoke and can be noisy. A few things could be improved: better soundproofing, a small fridge, an iron in every room, and stronger WiFi. Still, I'd stay here again.

We had stayed at Aurora before, but after this experience I won't return, and I'll make sure others know how guests can be treated here. We arrived around 1:30am after a wedding with our 6-year-old daughter and a confirmed booking. Farid, at the front office, refused to check us in and kept insisting we upgrade our room. He confidently said he would mark us as a “NO SHOW” and that booking.com wouldn't charge us, as if he had control over it and didn't care about our rights as customers. What upset me most was the lack of empathy. It was late, we had a child with us, and he showed no concern or willingness to help. His manner was rude, arrogant, and completely unprofessional. This was an extremely disappointing and unacceptable experience with the front office staff.

The location is about as good as you can get for this price, just a short 10-minute walk down Little India street to the tourist city centre. The price was good and the room decent, but mine smelled of smoke and cigarettes, probably from the previous occupant. If that bothers you, ask for a non-smoking room next time.

The amenities were in good condition, but the room turned out to be mid-range and more limited in space than it looked on the website, which is why I booked. A wheelchair or kids' stroller can't get around accessibly right now, and that could be improved. It was a quite pleasant hotel.
