Harbour Inn Melaka

Most hotels were unavailable, so we stayed here for one night in a family room that cost about RM228. It had two king beds and a single bed. There was plenty of space, with one toilet and a separate bathroom. The fridge and TV were useful, and the room had three air conditioners that worked only mildly, plus three wall fans if the AC felt too cold. We could park by the roadside right outside our room. I'd give the stay 8/10.

For RM60 a night, it was okay for a short break. It's a very basic place, mainly somewhere to sleep, and you have to bring your own soap and toiletries. Still, better than camping in a tent.

They charge extra after you've booked online, saying it's a tax. Be careful, that's what I call a scam. For the money they take that way, you could get a four-star hotel instead of staying in this terrible hole.

The cigarette smell was the biggest deal breaker for me as a non-smoker. It was present throughout the hotel and in the room, and the overall hygiene was poor. The toilet looked old and unclean, though it did have a bidet. My bedsheet had a medium-sized hole, and I couldn't tell if it was from an insect or something someone had done. The bed was still sleepable. The location was fairly quiet and not too far from the city, with some street parking. For the price I'd rate it 1/3, and I wouldn't come back since there are better hotels nearby.
