You get what you pay for, I guess, but several service and upkeep problems made the stay fall short of what we expected. The room had a TV with just one channel and snowy reception, a dead bedside lamp, and a fused bathroom ceiling light. There were only two hangers, the shower tiles had brownish stains, and the curtains needed tidying up. Parking was another surprise. At check-in we asked and were told parking outside or behind the hotel block was free. The next morning we learned the outside bays are run by the city council and require payment. They should have explained that clearly from the start. On our second night, the bottled water hadn't been replaced. At the desk we were told the hotel had run out and we could fill our own container in the kitchen. That was surprising and unacceptable. When we raised it the next morning, staff said housekeeping had carelessly forgotten to replenish it.

Once we were settled, the rest of our stay was smooth and pleasant. The hotel has charm, good facilities, and everything we needed for a comfortable 3D2N family stay over the long weekend. The start was disappointing, though. We were told at check-in that the room was ready, but cleaners were still finishing inside. When we went in, there were insects on the bed. Better housekeeping checks before guests arrive would make a big difference.

We were told the CCTV in shared areas, including reception, wasn't working, which is a serious concern for a hotel. Guests should be able to expect a safe, comfortable stay, and ours was far from that. The room upkeep was very poor too. We had to change rooms three times because of various problems, which was frustrating and inconvenient during our 3-night stay. I hope management takes the maintenance and security issues seriously and improves things for future guests.

Being close to Jonker Street was a plus, but my room was very small. The sink and kettle were rusty. I'd say the hotel is okay overall.

We spent 3 nights here and had to change rooms because there was too much noise from the lobby. The staff arranged a new room without any problem. The rooms and bathrooms need an upgrade, though. At this price, it was fine for us.
