Finess Basic Hotel

The place has a good vibe and the staff are nice, though I wasn’t impressed with the cleaning staff. The shower drain was clogged with gunk, leaving me standing in a puddle while I showered. Please clean it between checkouts. Disgusting.

The lady receptionist greeted me nicely, but I’m rating the room itself. There wasn’t much space, I couldn’t control the air conditioning, and the mattress was so hard it made my body hurt. I only checked in because no other hotels were available. Maybe it just wasn’t my lucky day, but I won’t come back. Sorry, it wasn’t good value.

I arrived at 2am, and the 24-hour check-in was the reason I booked here. I wanted to pay extra to move to a bigger room since I was travelling with a friend, but the staff stuck to the rules and wouldn’t let us upgrade. The night receptionist was unpleasant and seemed like they didn’t want to be there. The hot water was alright, but the toilet kept flooding. The bed was uncomfortable, and the towels felt more like bath mats. Morning traffic was horribly noisy. It’s a long walk to the main food and night market areas. There’s no lift, so it’s unsuitable if you have trouble walking. I didn’t take a photo of the room. I should have stayed just one night instead of two, or gone somewhere else.

We stayed in a superior double with our son. The room was small, but it had enough space for what we needed, and the toilet looked really nice. Reception was open 24 hours. I paid by credit card and left a cash deposit, which was returned on our last day. There’s no elevator, so this isn’t suitable for anyone who needs accessible facilities. The stairs are a bit high too.
