La Mamasita Hostel

Mr. Monir was thoughtful and helpful during our stay, and made us feel welcome. The location also makes nearby attractions easy to reach. At night there’s live singing and a lively feel. A good choice if you like that kind of atmosphere.

Right in the middle of Jonker Walk, and easy on the budget. The place has a fun Latin American feel and an original concept. Service was on point even late at night, and Mr Mounir made us feel welcome. I’d recommend it to smart, adventurous travelers.

The location is pretty solid, and they give you a non-alcoholic drink at check-in. But our private room had no window and the smell was nauseating. The hallway smelled of mildew, and whatever they sprayed in the room to cover it was nearly worse. I don’t usually mind less-than-great conditions, but this almost made us change places. The lobby door stays locked, so you have to find someone at the restaurant to let you in.

I booked a two-bedroom place with a private bathroom, but got one bedroom with a bathroom instead. When I raised it with the manager, he made excuses and said I’d refused the other option. He was rude to me, then decided the mistake was mine. This was my first and last time dealing with this hostel.
