The whole traditional-looking Nyonya house is yours, and it has plenty of parking. It's very clean, with the owners keeping its old style; they're also friendly and helpful with tips on where to eat. A recently opened food street is about 200 metres away, and Jonker Street is close too, an enjoyable walk when it's not too hot. A few drawbacks: the water pressure is weak, cleaning costs extra, and there's no microwave or cooking equipment.

The location is hard to beat, about a five-minute walk from Jonker and the river, while still two streets away from the busy area. The colonial-style shophouse has been remodeled and is huge. Our family of six had the whole house, though it would be far more space than a group of fewer than four needs. Water pressure was low, and the shared area has no air conditioning, just old-fashioned fans and natural ventilation.
