The peaceful nights made for comfortable sleep, and there’s a small indoor pool where kids can swim and burn off energy. There’s plenty of parking under the hotel, with an elevator up to the lobby and rooms. It’s a quiet place to relax away from the city bustle, but it’s far from Melaka town, so having your own transport is best. The hotel is on Pulau Melaka, a development that never really took off. Lots of shoplots are still abandoned, which can feel a bit eerie at night. The mosque area and the hotel are the only places on the island that seem to have much activity. Rooms are spacious for the price, though the carpets were noticeably dirty during my stay. There are no slippers provided, so guests have to walk on the carpet in their outdoor shoes. During my two days there, I didn’t hear or see housekeeping vacuuming any rooms, which made me wonder about the upkeep. Nearby food choices are decent: a pizza shop, a good Arabic restaurant, an Ayam Penyet outlet, an Asam Pedas shop right across the road, and a burger stand that stays open until 2 am.

I really liked the room, especially the view at night. There’s no breakfast, and all the nearby shops were closed. You can hear a bell toll every hour 👀

The room was spacious, and I didn’t book breakfast. Staff member Hazmin suggested the nearby Kakyong asam pedas restaurant, which was decent, or Ole Rasa for breakfast, where there’s lots of variety. A big thank you to everyone, from reception and housekeeping to maintenance and night security. Hakimi responded quickly when I called to say I’d left my phone behind. We booked one night at Riviera Suites Melaka through Agoda. The room was comfortable and roomy, with a king-size bed and effective air conditioning, so we could relax easily. The building’s European-style design really stood out, especially at night when the exterior lights gave it a charming look. Inside, the retro furniture and decorations gave the hotel a strong heritage feel. It was a memorable stay, and we’d consider coming back. #agoda #melaka
