Sunday Malacca Near Jonker Street Formerly Quayside

The rooms had a nice view, and I could see potential in the location, but the awful smells and run-down room condition left me feeling cheated by what I paid. We stayed in May 2026. The hotel claimed to be 100% smoke-free, but that wasn’t true, and the promised parking facilities weren’t there either. We had to drive around looking for a safe public lot. When the desk staff member called his “supervisor,” he came back half an hour later with a shrug and said it wasn’t their problem and nothing could be done about my room. We stayed through the night because I was afraid checking out early would mean losing my refund, given how dodgy the management seemed. The next day we left with my hair smelling of cigarette smoke, while my husband was sneezing and coughing from allergy reactions. I don’t have anything else nice to say about the hotel or its uncaring staff and service. I’d booked through agoda, but that was useless when something went wrong: there was no helpline, and the numbers I eventually found didn’t connect me to a customer service representative. Getting back to my house felt like a retreat after those public-toilet-ish rooms.

Apart from being near Jonker Street, this place had no real advantages for me. I stayed two nights, and the hotel looked nothing like its photos, more like an old, dark abandoned factory. There was no parking, so I used a nearby public lot and had to carry my luggage a long way. At night I couldn’t drive up to the entrance because the road was blocked and street hawkers crowded the roadside. The room wasn’t clean, with lots of hair in the bathroom. Noise from food vendors downstairs kept me awake until after 1 am, and trishaws carrying passengers went by blasting music. I put the housekeeping sign on the door on the second day, but the room still hadn’t been cleaned when I returned that night. The service was terrible.

The night view over the river was amazing, and booking two river-view rooms felt worth every penny. My family and I stayed last night and had a wonderful time. The rooms were comfortable, and the location made for a relaxing evening. I’d highly recommend it for families.

The room wasn’t really soundproof, but that’s what you get in a tourist area, and my stay was okay 👌🏻. We went on a busy weekend and stayed just one night, which worked well because the hotel is very close to attractions. The receptionist helped when I asked about parking. Be aware that roads are closed from Friday through Monday, so I had to take another route to park. Traffic was still bearable when I arrived around 3pm.
