Vintage Inn Jonker Walk Melaka

The map pin is in the wrong place. I attached a screenshot showing the correct spot. I spent an hour walking around looking for it before some helpful locals pointed me in the right direction. The staff member on duty was understanding and apologetic, and upgraded me from the dorm to a private single room. He also suggested some excellent places to eat. The room was small but clean, and I really appreciated the upgrade. All is forgiven, and I'm very happy with the service. Thanks, Rohan. I'd give six stars if I could.

The walk to the hostel took a bit of figuring out, but after a long trip I was met by a really friendly, polite and helpful staff member, which made a big difference. My single room upstairs had working Wi-Fi, AC and a fan, and I finally got a great night's sleep. It was quiet during my weekday stay, and I felt welcome, safe and rested. It's by the canal, about a five-minute walk along it to the centre. There's also a bus stop around five minutes away for Melaka Sentral (Hang Tush Mall). The shared shower, toilet and reception were okay for a budget place, though not especially clean. Dust fell from the AC onto my bed. I didn't see any bed bugs or other unpleasant creatures. There was a fridge and hot plate at reception, and they gave me a towel and toilet paper. I paid an extra 10MYR plus 4MYR in taxes, and there was a 50MYR (or 10€) deposit for the room key and door access card to reception and the second floor.

A nice little hotel with a friendly, accommodating host. I had a single room and nothing to complain about. The bathrooms were generally clean for a hostel, and the AC worked well. It's close to everything while still being just far enough from the bustle. I really enjoyed my stay and would recommend it.

RM30 for a single room with AC and a fan felt like good weekday value. I had privacy, and each floor has two showers and two restrooms, which should be enough. It wasn't the cleanest place, though.
