The Room Hotel

Having a restaurant and convenience store in the same building was handy, and the hotel’s central spot in Miri made getting around easy. My single room was comfortable and suited me well as a solo traveller. The room, bathroom, and lobby were clean and well maintained. Check-in and check-out went smoothly, and the staff were friendly and professional throughout. The hotel compound has limited parking, but there’s public parking nearby, so it wasn’t a major issue. The lift worked well, as did the air conditioning and TV. It was a clean, comfortable, practical place for a short overnight stay, especially before an early flight. I’d stay again.

The air conditioning never got very cool, even set to 17°C, and the TV had only three local channels. Still, the old hotel was very clean, with spotless room and bathroom and no dust at all. It’s around a 10 to 15 minute walk to the mall, and plenty of eateries are within walking distance. There’s a café and convenience store in the building, which is handy, and a 24-hour hawker food restaurant just a few steps away.

The hotel is in a strategic location, and I’d consider staying again if the issues get sorted. I noticed some rooms were being renovated and hope the upgrades continue through the rest of them too. The main problem for me was the air conditioning. In Miri’s blazing heat, it took ages to cool the room and never got cold enough, even at the lowest setting. I woke up sweating several times. I asked to change rooms, but the hotel was fully booked that weekend because of several events in town. The staff were warm, friendly, and accommodating, which I appreciated.

The room was well maintained and worked well for a short stay. Clean, comfortable, and a pleasant experience.
