Muar Traders Hotel

My room was on a low floor facing Main Street, so it was noisy and dusty. I’d chosen the hotel for its position by the Muar river and hoped for a room high enough to enjoy a good view. I was also charged RM30.00 for checking in two hours early. The towel smelled musty, the floor hadn’t been cleaned properly, and there was lots of long hair. Breakfast was cold and had limited choices. I won’t book here again.

The service was top notch, and the cafe food and drinks were definitely the best part. I liked the size and scenery of the family room, which fit three people with one queen bed and one single bed. The main thing missing was an iron and ironing board. Those should be included in the room, especially a steam iron.

After more than 50 stays over two years, Aisyah at the front desk still makes me feel genuinely welcome and recognises me. Her kindness and personal touch go beyond the job, and I think you should know what a great job she’s doing. The other staff are polite and professional too. I’ve stayed in Muar almost every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday over that time, trying most of the hotels around. Traders Muar is decent, but Aisyah is the real reason I keep returning. Sue

The location is very strategic, right beside the river with shops nearby. We stayed in the family suite, which had a living room and two rooms, so there was ample space. The layout felt odd because it had been adapted from an office building, and the hotel itself is an old office conversion. It was a bit run down, but good enough for a short stay.
