The Grace Hotel

The room’s platform was damaged, probably because earlier guests had jumped on it. The front desk was helpful when I had trouble with the AC, TV remotes, and water heater. It’s a welcoming hotel with plenty of places to eat nearby. When I was leaving to check out, the power went off right at noon. If I’d still been packing, that would’ve been a problem. Maybe they could wait another five to ten minutes before cutting it off.

We booked at the last minute after checking Agoda and Google reviews, and room 305 on the third floor was disappointing. The Wi-Fi didn’t work, the TV kept turning on and off, and the tissue box was empty. One of the two towels was worn, rough, and discoloured. When I asked for a replacement, they said none were available. The sofa had sagged and offered no support. The window lock was broken, so someone could climb in. The rain shower also leaked onto the water heater, which was the most worrying issue. The toilet seat is right next to the shower and sink, so it gets very wet and is cramped. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

We got the key and went straight to the room, only to find a towel still hanging up, rubbish that hadn’t been cleared, and an unmade bed. When I asked for another room, they said none were available at the same price and didn’t offer a free upgrade. We had to wait for them to clean it. They’d called a few hours before check-in to confirm. We even told them we’d arrive a bit late, after 8 p.m., but the room still wasn’t ready.

We had to wait from 5 p.m. until after 11 p.m. before they finally moved us to another room because the air conditioning in the first one wasn’t working. I told the person at the counter about it four or five times before anything was done. The replacement room had a toilet door that wouldn’t close properly. The first room was filthy as soon as we walked in. There was visible dust everywhere, and the bedsheets were a mess. The service was a huge letdown, and the lack of cleanliness was shocking. I’m extremely disappointed and angry about how this was handled. Management needs to address these problems. No guest should have to put up with a stay like this.
