Hotel Pangkor Mutiara

The front desk lady kindly let me check in at 8:30am instead of 2pm, thank you for that. The room had no window, but the bed was comfortable and the TV and air conditioning were fine. The water heater didn't work well, and the dispenser was outside by the stairs. They charged RM3 per night in Perak state tax for local tourists, plus a RM50 deposit that was refunded at checkout. I was shocked when the Indian lady at reception said Agoda had double charged me for a duplicate booking. Later her boss told her to ignore it. Very funny 😁😂

It's a budget hotel, so expectations should be modest. The family room was spacious, with one king bed, one queen, and a single, for RM250++ a night. The mini fridge was missing, the shower head holder was broken, and water pressure was very low. There was an instantaneous heater but no pump, and no room cleaning service. The hotel is right by the main road, with a Mamak stall, 7E, duty-free shop, and self-service laundry within walking distance. Pink vans were hard to find, so get a driver's number when you first arrive at the jetty. Still a good place for a short vacation.

There were seven of us and the family room was spacious enough. The toilet was small, though. Mamak and 7Eleven are just a stone's throw away, the duty-free shop is across the street, and the jetty is about five minutes away.

The soundproofing wasn't great, but I was satisfied overall. Basic place, very clean. Comfortable bedding, good air conditioning, strong water flow, and a clean bathroom. The location is strategic too.
