KSL Esplanade Hotel

The large convention hall is a real advantage: it’s spacious, tall and can accommodate around 2-3k participants. But management at large events was very poor. The lifts were slow for a big crowd, and there weren’t accessible staircases, so everyone was stuck waiting in the small lift lobby. In the kitchen, staff were outnumbered enough that our own crew had to help prepare food. Timing and food handling were poor, and the buffet refills varied in both appearance and taste. Some food tasted so bad we couldn’t swallow it. I also heard that the frozen fish fillets hadn’t been defrosted properly and were still cold inside. Rooms were dim, and I found pins from event spaces, like those used to attach table drapery, in the room. Housekeeping missed details, perhaps because it was hard to see in the dark. The hotel is connected to a mall, but finding the way from the mall is surprisingly difficult, almost as if the two management teams aren’t getting along. There’s no visible hotel entrance from the parking lot either. You have to find the hidden loading bay entrance, with no lights and very little signage. I don’t know who designed this layout, but it feels like a nightmare. Maybe it’s fine for a family getaway; for a large event, you’ll need patience and a high tolerance for mistakes and strange situations. I’ve only been here for large events, and didn’t take many photos because of privacy and being busy throughout.

The gala dinner was a highlight of our conference at KSL Esplanade Klang, held by our TRAC Methodist Church from 21-23 November 2025. The setup, service and flow were all handled well, and it became a memorable evening for everyone. Food during the event was very good too. Breakfast was the one challenge, as the coffee house was packed with several groups dining at once. Our first contact was Hirwan, the Head of Sales, who put the organizing committee at ease from our first meeting. He was clear, attentive and followed through on every promise. During the conference, his teammates, including Syed, Roy, Zikri (apologies if I’ve misspelled the name) and others whose names I didn’t catch, handled things professionally and calmly. The technical and AV team were patient and ready to help. I’d confidently recommend the hotel for group events. The facilities are good, but it’s the people who make the difference. KSL Esplanade Klang’s team really stands out.

The hotel is clean and well maintained, and the staff are friendly, though phone replies can take a while. My room felt a little expensive for its size, and there aren’t many attractions nearby. Facilities are decent, but lift waits can be long. Safe stair access with room key cards would help. It was a comfortable stay, with room for a better guest experience.

The mall is right next door, just a one-minute walk for food and cheap clothes at places like Panda Eyes and Good2U. I also really liked Birch Restaurant, with tasty food, lots of choices and good staff. Mr. Saiful F&B Manager was very helpful. The Onsen Spa was relaxing and worth it, and the pool was great for kids and families. The room was clean, spacious, carpeted and super comfortable. Even the lobby smells great and gives you good vibes as soon as you arrive. Loved it, totally worth it!
