Sweet Cili Boutique Homestay

I can’t recommend it unless you enjoy noise and getting no sleep all night. Heavy machinery was working for hours in the middle of the night, and the excavator was right downstairs from our room. We could hear it digging very clearly. It badly affected our sleep and left us in a terrible mood. A very bad experience with the government’s arrangements.

The mattress was so uncomfortable that we realized it was upside down. We could feel the springs while trying to sleep, and they kept waking us up. The soundproofing was awful too, we could clearly hear people talking outside. At RM220 a night, I won't be coming back.

We loved the warm, old-fashioned feel of the loft, especially the original details in the design. The hotel was quiet at night, and the staff were friendly. Armenian Street and Chew Jetty are only a few hundred meters away, so our afternoon and evening walks were easy. Smiling Buffalo is right beside the hotel, and its owner and staff were really nice. The room was cozy and had four double beds, two AC units, one upstairs and one downstairs, plus a ceiling fan. We always had hot water, which my sister and I appreciated. Towels, body wash, shampoo, toothbrushes, and a hairdryer were provided. We also liked the no-shoes-inside rule. I'd recommend staying here in Georgetown.

The receptionist was really friendly, and after we talked for a while, we were offered a room in their other hotel across the street for our booked nights. It had one big bed and one small one, with just a tiny window, as shown in the second photo. That wasn't what we wanted and didn't feel worth the price. We weren't allowed to see the room before booking and were told to trust the online photos. The room we got was quite different from what we'd booked: no city view, small, not nice, and it smelled bad. It looked like a cute hotel, but I can't recommend it.
