New Town Resort Suites at Pyramid Tower

The room I had on the first floor smelled of cigarettes even though it was meant to be non-smoking. It was reasonably clean, but very cramped for a deluxe room. There wasn’t a suitable spot to lay out my prayer mat, so I had to pray on the bed. The toilet is also tiny, and anyone XXL would have a hard time using it.

The bed was acceptable, the air conditioning got cold enough, the shower had hot water and the WiFi worked. For a budget room, I guess you can’t expect much, but there were plenty of problems. The place felt cramped and dirty, with no windows. I found a dead cockroach in the bathroom at check-in, and the toilet smelled of sewage. There was no shampoo, and the TV didn’t work. My key card also wouldn’t open the room, so I had to wait a long time. The same thing happened again during the stay. At night it was noisy because there’s a pub nearby.

For the price and location, it’s a decent deal if you expect one-star hotel standards. The room was really damp, so remember to ask for a towel when you check in. The only thing I especially liked was the mounted hair dryer.

The room was about average for a budget hotel, and Sunway Pyramid mall is nearby. I was just passing through the Sunway Pyramid Hotel lobby. What stood out most was how friendly the staff were: they helped me book a taxi to the airport at 4 am.
