OYO 90494 Sam Huat Hotel

I had a very bad experience with the poor service from the old Indonesia old lady at reception. I'd already booked a room through Agoda, but she said there was no booking under my name. Mark my words, never stay or book at this hotel. So terrible.

The only decent thing about the stay was the hot water in the shower. The filth and disrepair were beyond unacceptable, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. It's one of the most disgusting accommodations I've encountered, so avoid it. Super OYO 90494 Sam Huat Hotel in Pontian was nothing like the photos on Agoda, which gave a misleading impression of cleanliness and comfort. The walls were grimy, the lighting fixtures were held together with duct tape, and there were holes in the ceiling. The place smelled unbearably of stale dirt, cigarette smoke, and dampness, making it hard to breathe.

There was a used condom on the air duct above the bathroom door. Do you think housekeeping cleaned the rooms properly? I don't think so. I won't be back. There's a nicer room a little further down the road for the same price. OYO needs to do something about this one. I'm a regular OYO user and used to cheap hotels, but this was the worst. Yes, you could say I got what I paid for, but everything was horrible for an RM59 per night room. The ceiling looked ready to fall, and the floor tiles were starting to rattle. The bed springs made more noise than a hillbilly truck. The curtains, desks, and tables were all bad. You had to make sure the door locked from inside, or someone might push it thinking it was their room. We were lucky we used the latch. At least there was a lift. The keys were attached to used SIM cards, which powered up the rooms. At the counter, the 'receptionist' couldn't speak proper Malay, so they had to call the Indo staff to issue our keys. Getting to the counter was awkward too, with a big round table and 2,3 people eating in the way, so you had to squeeze past. A cage with a puppy was right by the front door. Walking in, I wondered if this was a hotel or a store.

This was my first and last stay at this hotel. The lobby was messy, and the room didn't match the description on Agoda's website. The door could only be opened and locked by pressing a button. Staff only cooperated when I asked for a more comfortable room. I feel Agoda shouldn't have listed this hotel.
