I enjoyed a great Chinese New Year dinner with the family. The dorm is very basic, with a shared shower, and breakfast is simple. It's about a 10-minute walk to the park entrance. Wi-Fi is better near the office but can fade out, and the SIM card works sometimes. There's a small hill between the towers that blocks the view up to KK. The hostel itself has a nice view, though some vegetation could be cut back to open it up. The wider view of KK and the farmland from Kundasang is amazing, and that's where I'd go next. It's a good budget place for a night to acclimate before climbing KK or to rest afterward. I'd stay again.

We stayed briefly before our Kinabalu hiking trip. The price felt fair and the place was okay, but at night it was a bit noisy with treller because our room was right by the road.

A good base for a few nights in Kundasang, especially if you're hiking Kinabalu. It's also not far from Kinabalu Park.

The rooms worked perfectly for a night or two, and we didn't have any trouble with street noise. The host was amazing, really nice, and helped us with everything.

After breakfast, the kettle was still on the balcony, so I boiled water for my tea without asking. Nobody asked me for 5 ringgits for it. If you're here for birdwatching, there's no need to go to Kinabalu park. Sit quietly on the balcony and the birds and squirrels will come to you.
