Zenith Kuantan

I recently stayed at Zenith Kuantan, and it fell short of what I expected from a 5-star hotel. The worst part was asking for a basic set of cutlery so I could feed my infant. They said “NO” over and over because we hadn’t ordered food from the hotel. What was I supposed to do, feed my baby with my fingers? Some 5-star service. Hotels with a 5-star rating should understand what families with young children need and show basic hospitality. The front desk team could also be warmer. A simple smile matters, especially after guests have travelled a long way. This left me with a very poor impression. I hope management reviews these policies and improves the service.

The convenient location, right across from a mall, was the only real positive for me. I don’t see why this is rated 5 stars. The amenities felt low quality: the toilets were clogged, the sink and shower were stained, and the carpet smelled musty. The shower took about 15-20 minutes, or what felt like forever, to get hot. I found AC Hotel by Marriott significantly better, even though it has a 4-star rating.

The only thing I liked was how close it is to East Coast and Kuantan City Malls. The room wasn’t maintained well: the sink was almost completely blocked and took ages to drain, the hair dryer didn’t work, and the carpet still had long strands of hair on it. There was also a musty smell. I woke up with rashes on my right thigh, and there are bed bugs. This isn’t 5-star quality. At best, it’s 3 stars, and I’m being generous. Management needs to do a better job maintaining the hotel and its service.

We often stay at Zenith for both work and holidays, and the service and cleanliness have been consistent. It’s in a convenient location, and the EV charging station means we can leave the car charging overnight without any hassle. We also like to relax at the cafe. The honey lemon drink and rose chrysanthemum tea were especially nice, with just the right amount of honey and a soothing aroma. It was a pleasant stay.
