Kupi-Kupi & Stay

The best thing here is the view of Mount Kinabalu and the fresh air. It's also close to restaurants and other homestays. But I really wouldn't recommend staying here. The toilet smelled like rat urine, as if it hadn't been scrubbed with Clorox. Its water heater didn't work, and the water was dirty, with sand, soil, and even insects coming out of the pipe. There were cockroaches under the bed and on the wall. The towels looked unwashed, were hung carelessly, and smelled bad, so bring your own. The parking area was too narrow, and the whole place felt dirty and unmanaged. WORST

The mountain view right in front of the homestay is amazing, and I slept peacefully here. I visited during Ramadan, so I didn't get to try the food mentioned in other reviews, but I found food nearby. The host and staff were nice, and you can walk slowly to Mesilou 3 sixty peak. All the rooms are set up for large groups. I travelled alone and the smallest one I got could fit three people. Recommended.

The RM150 room had its own toilet and could sleep four. It was quite nice, with WiFi, a TV, a sofa, an extension for charging phones, and lots of hooks for clothes. I forgot to take a photo. It can get a little noisy at night.

We had a superior family room that I liked, with a mini kitchen and an extra room with a toilet. It can fit 10 people. The staff were friendly, and the place is well positioned for Mount Kinabalu views, with hiking hills about 500 metres away. There are a few drawbacks, but I still think it's worth staying because management serves breakfast like a 5-star resort. I'd recommend this homestay.
