Wind Valley Farmstay

From the bungalow balcony, there’s a lovely view of Mount Kinabalu. The owner is very nice and welcoming! :)

Mount Kinabalu is right in front of us. There’s a menu with lots of food options if you’re hungry or don’t feel like driving into town, and a mini mart sells basic essentials. The water heater works really well, and breakfast is included with a booking.com reservation.

The views from the rooms were amazing. You can look over rolling foothills to a waterfall, then up to Mount Kinabalu. The scenery on the drive in was mind-blowing, and the road was manageable even in our tiny 1 litre hire car. We spent two fabulous nights here. Reception is in the shop, and the person there was very friendly. The room was well presented, with a comfortable bed, though it was tricky to move around it because it was almost as long as the room was wide. WiFi worked great and the shower was hot. We enjoyed the food, especially the excellent steamboat, which was fun to cook on our balcony with that view. Breakfast was brought to our room, too. Definitely recommend staying here if you’re in the area.

The staff were friendly, and the views were lovely. The room in the Suite with Mountain View at Wind Valley Farmstay was clean enough and comfortable, though we had quite a few insect visitors, which is understandable for a ground-level room in the mountains. It’s a peaceful, scenic spot for unwinding somewhere remote. As a base for exploring Kundasang, though, it didn’t work as well. It’s about 25 minutes from the town centre, and there’s only one narrow road in and out, so getting around is inconvenient. Amenities are limited. Breakfast was simple home cooking, with only two choices each morning, American breakfast or Nasi Lemak. The earliest it was served was 8.20am, which may not suit early risers.
