The room was dirty and smelled bad. Its bathroom door was broken and wouldn’t shut, and the damaged basin faucet splashed water everywhere, so we preferred using the outdoor tap. There was no daily housekeeping, and service was basically absent. Calling this a resort seems wrong; it felt like a school hostel. The canteen felt like one too, with restrictive meal times, odd breakfast hours, and lunch ending early. The food was worse than economy Chap Fan. Staff hurried us out as soon as a meal period ended, and we had to return our dishes and cutlery to the clearing station. There wasn’t anywhere else pleasant to sit, and the beach seating had no sunshade. Once the canteen closed, being outside was uncomfortable, so we couldn’t enjoy the beach atmosphere we wanted from an island resort. We ended up spending money at the lounges and restaurants in nearby resorts, which actually had service and a beach vibe. Life jackets were compulsory for snorkeling but rented out here for RM15. I’ve never stayed at an island resort that didn’t provide them. I regret staying here because it ruined our beach holiday. A resort should offer somewhere relaxing for guests to enjoy the shore, but this place made us want to go home despite being on vacation. I won’t return. I’d spend a little more for a proper resort.

We were a group of 12 staying at Redang Beach Resort in May 2026, with five rooms booked. The location and snorkeling were enjoyable, but there were several problems. For the first two days, our rooms had no water after we got back from snorkeling. One room’s locker wouldn’t open on the second day; we reported it around noon and waited more than 1.5 hours for someone to fix it. We also paid RM50 per person for the turtle snorkeling trip and saw just one turtle, which was disappointing. I know some things may be outside the resort’s control, but I hope maintenance, response times, and the overall guest experience improve.

This was my fourth trip to Redang Island but my first stay at this resort. Check-in after lunch, beside the reception and waiting area, went smoothly. The white sandy beach was lovely, and the accommodation layout was nice. Our room was roomy enough for one queen bed and one single bed. The food was delicious, mostly oriental in style. The toilet looked a little dirty, perhaps because of poor workmanship on the pebble wash surface. There was no TV or fridge, but free water was available at the canteen. I was happy with the stay.

The best snorkeling we found was Shark Point, where the shallow water was full of fish. We got close to them and spotted small reef sharks and triggerfish. To me, it beat all the other places we visited by boat. In the evenings, we walked the beach and then relaxed on the resort’s wooden sunbeds, listening to the breeze and waves. The nearby live band was a nice touch, and the singer was pretty good. Redang had long been on my travel list. We chose Redang Beach Resort because of its early bird deal, good general reviews, and convenient location. Our Standard Room was basic but comfortable and perfectly adequate for changing, bathing, short rests, and sleeping, since we spent most of our time outside. It was further inside the resort, away from much of the live band and other nighttime noise. The buffet had enough variety that there weren’t many repeats over our three-day, two-night stay, except for the fruit: watermelon, orange, guava, and pineapple. Nothing was the best in the world, but it was adequate, and we ate well. Redang was unforgettable, and the room and service at Redang Beach Resort suited our stay perfectly. I’d recommend it.

The food was a highlight: it was delicious, fresh, creative, and had lots of choices. Buffet stations were plentiful, they refilled dishes quickly, and queues stayed short. Snorkeling gear was in good condition, and staff responded quickly and attentively when guests needed help. The nearby restaurant also served great food. The rooms were simple but clean, with comfortable beds. Check-in was on time, and they had the AC running before guests arrived, which was appreciated in Malaysia’s heat. Since resort packages usually bundle the room, meals, and snorkeling, having the meals taken care of was especially convenient because snorkeling can be tiring. Great food and management, highly recommended.
